Voodoo?

I went to the chiropractor for the first time. If you missed it earlier, I've been having some horrible pain in my upper back right behind my shoulder blade. Well, after a very stressful HOUR long drive through the "blizzard," I made it to my appointment 15 minutes late. They were very gracious to let me keep my appointment.

My mom gave me some good advice in choosing a chiropractor and it was helpful to know the right questions to ask. Everything went really well as I expected... a talk with the doctor, x-rays, checking my spine, etc. Then the doc pulled out a weird little metal rod thing and started poking at different spots on my back and knee. He said it was the only acupuncture that didn't poke through the skin. Weird. It was supposed to release positive energy through my body.

I don't know... after coming home to a very crazy Jack (he was being mischevious and just had that devilish look in his eyes), I didn't feel like I had much positive energy. But I do feel slightly better and I'll be going back tomorrow. Voodoo or not.

Back pain is the worst. My husband has suffered from it for years. Good luck!

lol. I've never heard of the little rod thing, but I guess positive energy couldn't be a bad thing, right?

My new chiropractor has been putting something up to my earlobes and I finally asked him what it was. It's acupuncture and supposedly helps with stress and pain relief!

Hope you feel better soon!

Sounds like trigger point therapy (or something similar). Should be very gentle. He/she should be suggesting ways to alleviate the pain (change in posture and/or routine) not just have you coming back again, and again, and again....

Massage, myofacial release, cranial sacral therapy, and/or acupunture would also help w/that pain. If you have ?'s, you know where to find me. In the meantime - Good luck! Big hug!
