We are in the final two-week stretch until Jack starts daycare and I go back to school. As a teacher, I'm blessed to have my summers off and now that I have a son, I'm especially lucky to spend everyday with him. Yet, it's hard not to complain as school draws near. When Jack got up this morning, he was so happy. I love that kids can wake up and be so excited for a new day. They probably don't even realize that it's a new day, but they're joyful and excited to get going. I wish I woke up everyday with that joyful innocence instead of grunting and groaning about how I don't want to get up. I guess that's what life does to you.
I will miss seeing his joyful face every morning after he's had breakfast, slept a little longer, and is up for the day. That's what I'll look forward to on the weekends.

I don't blame you for complaining. Playing with your baby all day is FUN! Working? Not so much.
I love those morning smiles too! And you are very lucky to have summers off to enjoy them.
just wait until he gets a big-boy bed and learns how to open doors. He's gonna be able to walk into our room and stand at the edge of the bed and poke us awake in the morning. That'll be ... uh, fun.
That's where we are now, Bryan. It's actually not as bad as you would think.
Chris, good luck going back to school ... at least you have the summers to look forward to with Jack! I wish I had those.
Also, I love his hair.
'such innocence' says it perfectly! As you said, wouldn't it be wonderful to wake up that excited every day?
I think it's great that you are able to spend summers with your son. I imagine that it will be difficult to return to school, but you definitely know what the weekends hold and have a lot to look forward to each week!
I hope you have a great weekend!
