After phone calls to the hospital we had visited the night before, the pediatrician, and the plastic surgeon, it was decided that Jack needed to have the pyogenic granuloma spot removed as soon as possible. The plastics guy that did his surgery said even though they bleed, it should not have been bleeding as much as it was. We were able to bypass all the insurance garbage and have the surgery on Saturday.
Aunt Sarah came over to help out Saturday morning as I made phone calls! Poor Jack had to wear this gauze over his bump all day. He also went all day without food, water, or a nap. Amazingly, he was an all-star. I was able to entertain him for a good part of the day to keep his mind off his other troubles. Having family around to entertain him definitely helped too!

Jack was such a cute little patient. He charmed the nurses and was so calm! He even rode the bed all the way to surgery. He didn't mind it one bit. We were really impressed with the service of both the doctors and nurses. It turned out to be a really good thing to have the surgery on Saturday, too. The plastic surgeon said as soon as he removed the gauze from Jack's face that the bump started bleeding again.
Here's our brave boy shortly after surgery. He had to be put under for the surgery, even though it took only 25 minutes. He looks a little out of it in these pictures, but it wasn't long after and he was running the halls! I was amazed how quickly he wanted to get down and was ready to go.
This is Jack during his bath tonight. He ended up with 7 small stitches. Unfortunately, they had to cut it out to ensure that it won't return. The plastic surgeon reassured us that he does several small stitches close together to limit scarring. I hope he doesn't end up with much of a scar. We were very relieved to go to bed last night and not have to worry about a bloody mess. Thanks for all the thoughts over the last few days.

I hope there will be a scrapbook page for this. "Baby's First Invasive Facial Surgery"
Holy cow what an ordeal! Dan had been keeping tabs on you guys throughout the weekend on facebook. It's so hard to see them sick/in the hospital/hurting, but it sounds like he did great with it all. So thankful you were able to get it taken care of this weekend and not have to continue to deal with it. All three of our boys have been hospitalized or had surgery for something, but always early in the morning. I can't imagine how difficult it probably was to avoid food/drink during the day when he was awake!! Jack makes a very cute patient!
What a trooper. Sure glad to hear everything worked out okay and that Jack took no time in getting back to his usual self.
Thank goodness it is all taken care of. I hope your little guy is feeling great!
Chris,
He looks great now. You must be so relieved to have it over! Now, no more hospital visits for you guys...
That's a great title for a scrapbook page. I'll have to remember that one!
Thanks for the kind words, everyone. We're glad it has been taken care of!
