Jack has hemangioma on his face. Although, I probably shouldn't be, I'm doing a mild mama freak-out. It seems like he's had it for a long time, but after looking at some pictures we found that he's only had it for about 6 weeks. But it's been growing pretty quickly in the last week or so. His dermatology appointment isn't for another couple weeks. I'm hoping someone else can get him in sooner... Anyone know someone who's had this before?
I'm totally digging that school is almost out. Okay, I know it's not even May yet, but in my long-term teaching plans... the end is so very near! I have no more units to plan, which means lots more time to enjoy being at home with my boys, reading, scrapbooking, gardening, and just plain relaxing.
Although I'm excited for school to be out, I'm also excited for it to start again. I'm teaching a three-week summer school in July with two other colleagues. It should be an interesting change of pace and nice change in my pocket. But, honestly, I get excited making plans for next year's 7th graders too. I love that I can teach the same skills to fresh faces using new activities. Planning for a new year is kind of exciting!
Jack figured out how to open our sliding door to the deck tonight. I wondered how long it would take him to figure out how to slide it open. But then I thought the fix would be to latch it. Nope. He figured out how to push up the latch AND slide it open. Little monkey. Time for higher security measures.

My cousin's daughter had a hemangioma on her stomach. It grew to about the size of a quarter. As she got older it faded out. She is 11 now, and I am pretty sure it isn't even noticeable anymore.
