Bike racing season is here! Although training for racing takes Bryan away for many hours at a time, I really do love going to his races, feeling just a teeny bit competitive for him, and enjoying the beautiful weather. We got to do all of that this weekend. Saturday started cool and rainy, but turned out to be a beautiful day. Jack and I enjoyed the warm sunshine and a good view to see Bryan race. And on a side note, this was the first time I used the monkey harness on Jack and it was great! Say what you want about kid leashes, but it was so much more relaxing knowing that he could walk around and play, but not run away without me noticing! Especially with bikes whizzing by at 25+ mph.
But that was Saturday... Bryan raced again on Sunday. He crashed, took an ambulance ride, and then spent 24 hours in the hospital. Needless to say, getting the phone call scared the crap out of me and I'm glad I didn't see the crash as I'd probably have nightmares. And I am SO thankful for helmets. So for anyone who rides without a helmet, get one on! At 9mph or 35mph, your head is just too precious. And if you really want to know the details of his crash, you can read his blog.

Chris, no one likes to get that phone call. I thought of you as often as we thought of Bryan on the way home Sunday. So glad he is okay and it wasn't any worse. EVCC wife - Karen Spray
And I'm sorry I had to make the call. As riders it is something we all know could happen, we just hope it won't. Glad to hear that Bryan is up and going. I'm pretty sure that his bones must be made of some sort of rubber to not break in that crash.

Yikes! Thank goodness he was wearing his helmet. So sorry friend.
Karen - Thanks for the thoughts! I'm glad he's okay too.
Dan - Although the phone call scared me, I really appreciate you calling me and keeping me updated. I know it wasn't a fun call to make.
Christy - He always wears his helmet and has to race, thank goodness. But it does make you think what would happen without the helmet.
