One year later

I started reading this book at the beginning of last summer. I finally finished it today... The length of time it took me to finish it is not a reflection of its quality. The book is excellent and if you are questioning the title, it's actually a travel diary of sorts about a guy and his girlfriend who move from Washington, D.C. to a very small island in the Pacific. Great read! (Babies put a damper on time to read, by the way). Now I'm going to start the next book, Getting Stoned with Savages. I hope that it doesn't take me a year...

Biking:
In other news, my training plan is not going so well. I took Friday and Saturday off to rest my sore knee. I rode with Bryan on Saturday and my knee felt pretty good during the last half of the ride. So I did a time trial workout inside on the trainer today and felt okay until I got off the bike. Then I was having sharp pains that were crumbling both physically and emotionally. So more ibuprofen and ice. Dr. Bryan has prescribed the rest of the week off. I'm REALLY not in bike racing shape, so unless my knee heals quickly, I may have to set another goal.

Random Thought:
I just emptied our Diaper Genie. What a great invention! We got ours used from a friend and we don't even use it properly. It's supposed to twist each diaper, which seems like a waste of plastic. We just fill it up and tie the plastic when we empty it. The plastic liner lasts forever and really does a great job with the smell. Now that it's warmer in the house, I'm thankful for our Diaper Genie!

I hope your knee starts to feel better. Injuries are so frustrating. Do you think it's just too much too soon, an overuse sort of thing? Is Team Kaos Bryan's team? Good luck with it. I'll try to send healing thoughts your way.

Good job with the scrapbooking, too!

Sorry to hear about your knee! I hope it heals up quickly.

I just put a hold on the book you mentioned, it sounds great! Thanks for the recommendation.

And I totally agree, the diaper genie is amazing! I don't know what we would do without one!

In hindsight, it was too much too soon. I did that with my other knee when running and pretty much trashed it, which is why I bike now instead of run. I'm learning from my mistakes though, and taking the week off!
