Movin' On Up!

Jack's baseball season was an interesting one this year!  We knew it was going to be as some aging rules changed and he skipped a whole level.  Jack was to be playing in Farm 8 this year (as that is his age), but the rules changed and now go by your age as of August 31st.  So... onto Minors baseball (9-10 year olds) for him.  Jack definitely loves the game and has no complaints about going to practice or games.  We played a lot of catch in the back yard this year trying to work on those basics.  Jack definitely showed improvement, but sometimes got a bit goofy during warm-ups!  :)

There are strike-outs, walks, and stolen bases in minors (a whole new ballgame, literally)!  Batting wasn't Jack's strongest part of the game this year.  The beginning of the season is rough for walks, so Jack was able to get to base quite often.  As the season went on and pitchers improved, he started to strike out more.  Whatever we did, he would NOT swing the bat.  I think he swung maybe three times this season.  {We're going to keep working on it!}

Jack's best part of the game... base running.  He loved it and enjoyed getting to slide when possible!  The laundry I didn't enjoy as much.  All in the life of a baseball mom, I suppose.  :)

Bryan was his coach again this year and he had a really great team.  They were nice kids and fun to watch play!  Jack's highlights from this year:
Favorite position: 2nd base
Favorite Play: tagging out a runner at 2nd
Strength: base running (I slide into home to score a run!)
They ended up as tournament runners-up in their bracket.  As each baseball season has ended, this one was no different.  It was bitter-sweet!  Now maybe on to some fall ball in a few months!
