It is officially July and that means summer is {almost} half over for me! We have been quite busy and enjoying summer time to the fullest so far! We didn't waste much time when school got out in May... we were at the Children's Museum within the first week. Maddy had been begging to go for the last few months, but we were waiting for the new exhibit to be open ~ Pirates & Mermaids. My sister & nieces joined us too and it was a really fun day!
We went camping along the Missouri River (near Yankton, SD) the first weekend in June. It has officially become a tradition with my dad and I so look forward to it as summer begins! We did some fishing and both kids caught something!
Papa bought the kids kites and although I don't have any pictures of my sis and I, I think we might have had more fun than the kids! :)
Here are some of my favorite pics from our camping trip! My kiddos are getting so big... I can hardly believe it! The three outtakes of Maddy are pretty funny. Her shorts got wet somehow so she roasted marshmallows in her underwear! The crying pic was after she fell into a bowl of water. And... being so tired on the way home! It was a really good time, despite that I got a cold which eventually morphed into an ear infection. Boo. But it was fun nonetheless!
After we got back from camping, we had leftover ice in the cooler. It had all melted, but was still icy cold water. Bryan dared Jack to sit in it in his underwear for one minute and he would give him a dollar. I have not laughed that hard for quite some time! He eventually did it for 10 seconds for a dollar and then another 20 seconds for a second dollar. Maddy decided she needed in on the fun too and earned herself a dollar!
Other summer time fun has included vacation bible school at our church. I helped with crafts, so I was able to get some fun snapshots of the kids!
We went to the zoo in March shortly after the elephants arrived, but made another trip in June. Stingray beach wasn't very busy and the kids all fed them, so it was quite an entertaining time! Even my baby niece got into it.
It was such a beautiful day for the zoo! I'm already thinking about when we can go again!
These are a few of my summertime outtakes! The big one is me with my teacher bffs whom I love! We were out golfing and enjoying life after school got out! Jack and Maddy have really played well with each other this summer. They do a lot of imaginary play that is quite entertaining. One morning they pretended they were arctic explorers! Jack did a week-long college for kids summer camp and Maddy and I did some shopping during that time. Morning ice cream for the win! I've especially noticed how big Maddy has gotten this summer. Ponytails make her look grown up, being very independent with her activities and loving anything related to art, and showing that she has outgrown her naps. Although, sometimes that results in crashing on the couch at 7 p.m.!
More summer time fun to come! And more summer time fun to be had. :)
