A swift kick in the rear

2009 has been a crazy year for our family. And one of the biggest challenges for us has been our finances. Somehow the loss of Bryan's job has made us smarter, more fiscally responsible, and in better financial shape than we have ever been. {That does not translate into us having more money.} We have been paying down debt and are happy to announce that we have paid off our credit card! Woohoo! It's almost a release to know that we have NO credit card debt.

I first got a credit card in college. Unfortunately, I think that's how many people get into debt. The amount has gone up, down, up again, but never down to ZERO. There have been times when we used it to make big purchases that we couldn't afford otherwise. We've even used it to pay for groceries when money was tight. Maybe it's the swift kick in the rear of a job loss or we're just older & wiser, but this time we're getting it right. Money is tight, but instead of creating more debt, we're getting rid of it. And it feels good!
