This year we had planned to take a trip to Colorado. However, life threw us a curveball. With us tightening the budget, Bryan's multiple accidents {love you, sweetie}, and our vacation money going toward more pressing needs, we never went. However, I was determined to have a vacation, even if it was only for a day! Our schedules have been crazy between Bryan working many hours a week and me preparing for summer school. So we put it on the calendar that Wednesday, July 8th was vacation day. And we stuck to it. It really wasn't TOO exciting, but it was nice to skirt all other responsibilities, avoid cooking, and enjoy what Omaha has to offer. So here's our one-day vacation, in pictures.
A very happy Jack waiting for breakfast. At this point, we hadn't even told him where we were going yet!

We spent a good chunk of the day at the Omaha Children's Museum. We originally had planned to go to the zoo, but Bryan's body brace makes him very hot! So we opted for an air-conditioned venue instead. We spent about an hour and a half just letting Jack run around and play.

Then we went to the Old Market for lunch. Famous Dave's was the restaurant of choice. LOVE their cornbread muffins! Jack was really excited at first.
Then he was bored and hungry.

Then it was back to the Children's Museum. We headed straight for the Sesame Street exhibit on the body.

Jack was starting to get tired, so we made a quick shopping stop and had a snack/drink at a local coffee shop. Jack got a stuffed Count from the Children's Museum. He and the Count have become best buds the last few days.

We headed home for a couple hours for some R & R. Jack's friends all had a play date (Elmo, Count, "Eyes" his frog). For dinner, we went to La Mesa, which is one of my favorite places to eat!

It may not have been Colorado, but it was fun nonetheless! Hopefully, next year, we'll make it out of the state. :)
