Going up the down escalator

We've lived in our current home for 5 years now. After Jack was born, we came to a realization that our house is small - very small. With two dogs and a toddler running around, it feels crowded. So we started doing some research into other homes with a bit more room. We thought of ways that we could remodel our current home. We were grasping at anything that meant we could have a bigger home.

But then we also realized that financially it just wouldn't work. So in some ways we feel stuck. This is going to be it for awhile. And most of the time, we're okay with that. We've tried to take the attitude that we need to make the best out of what we have. So I've been working all summer on the house (mostly the outside). And I'm not trying to take credit away from Bryan - he's been laid up most of the summer.

I just came in from working again. I often work during Jack's nap and go to work as soon as he goes to bed. As I've been working on home improvement projects, I have started to get the feeling that I'm walking up the down escalator. I'm constantly walking, but I'm not getting anywhere. As soon as I get a project done and feel a little sense of accomplishment, I see something else that needs to be fixed or replaced. And that something else always seems to be bigger than the project that was just finished.

Isn't home ownership great?!?

first of all...yay to you for taking on the projects! I know plenty of girls that would shy away.

Greg often says, "When I get everything done with the house, I'm going to ... (insert something relazing here)" and I laugh and can't help but mention that we will NEVER be done with the house. There is always something.

I hope you're taking before and after pictures!
