The Toddler Roller Coaster

What have we been up to in the last few weeks? Well, nothing too exciting, but continuing to get back in the groove of work, daycare, and the lack of time to get anything meaningful accomplished around here....

AND - getting used to Jack's new found sense of authority. It was almost like someone flipped a switch in the last few weeks. Our sweet little boy has turned bossy, moody and a bit defiant. And yet, there are times when he is sweet and happy. We are rolling wiht the punches and trying to get used to his roller coaster emotions.

After our troubles with sleeping and then transitioning to his "big boy bed," things were going quite smoothly at bedtime. He didn't get out of his bed at all. About a week ago, that changed. We {think} we have since ironed out the wrinkles at night, but it's an experiment in progress. He's still having trouble at daycare, however.

The other big issue at daycare is his fighting with other kids. Very typical of toddlers, he thinks every toy is his, even if he's not playing with it. At home, he has become bossy with the dogs. He yells at Tonka when he's scratching (due to seasonal allergies). I don't know where he learned that, ahem.

The best is when he says to Bryan or I, "Stop that right now!" Whoa. The first time he said it I had to keep my jaw from hitting the floor. And so we do a lot of teaching on what to say instead. He definitely has learned that he has a voice!!

Even with all the emotions, he is still our sweet little boy. Moments like these make you forget everything else from the day.

Oh toddler years are so difficult. They have such opinions! It's when I miss the newborn days,

Avarie loved watching Jack. She sat here with a smile on her face and kept reaching for him. :)
