Bring on the Holiday Fun

I look forward to the holidays greatly, starting with Thanksgiving!  The time away from home to unwind and relax with family is amazing.  This year at Thanksgiving, Jack wanted to learn how to make Nana's cheesecake (which is terrific, btw).  He really enjoyed learning and baking with Nana!

Prepping for the holidays, means a visit with Santa is in order.  Santa makes a special visit to Bryan's office building each December.  Jack hoped right up and was chummy with Santa.  Maddy... not so much.  She was so excited and talked about Santa the whole drive there.  But when the time came, she clung on to Daddy for dear life!  She wouldn't even look at him.  Later, she was upset because Santa wasn't going to know what she wanted!  Ha.  Luckily for her, Santa was visiting Hy-Vee while Bryan had the kids out grocery shopping.  She wouldn't quite talk to him, but at least was pleasant!

It's definitely fun decorating for the holidays with the kids.  They both asked and asked and asked when we were going to get the tree up.  With a busy weekend after Thanksgiving with a day-long Lego League competition, we had to wait until Sunday.  I thought the wait was going to break them!  Maddy got to be the one to put the star up this year.  Jack is just too big! {tear}

I got to take a day off mid-December to go to Jack's holiday program at school.  I got to work at his elementary school's bake sale and then got a few hours to myself to do some shopping before the afternoon concert.  He looked so handsome!

Here are some of Maddy's preparations for Christmas: preparing her doggy sleigh; helping make candy cane cookies; and doing some online shopping?!?

Lily tried to get into the holiday spirit too!  A little nap under the tree helps everyone out.  And she may have gotten just a little too close to the tree!  Ornament stuck to her ear... it didn't seem to bother her!

Christmas program at Church: Jack got to be a shepherd in the program and thought it was great (even though he wasn't smiling in the second picture).  Maddy was a star although she refused to take a picture at first, even when Paige tried to get her to smile!

Silly holiday faces!!!  I love every single of one of these.

And a few more last minute gift preparations... I found a little air-dry clay ornament kit and the kids used stampers, paint, and ribbon to make ornaments for grandparents, cousins, and a few for our tree!  The kids had so much fun writing messages with the stamps.  They also made a pair of oven mitts for Nana to celebrate their fun of baking with her!

After all the holiday prep, it was time to relax and just enjoy time with my littles!  More pictures to come!
