Our new normal - Kindergarten life

This post is well overdue, but I'm glad that I'm getting documented even if a little late!  Jack is well into his Kindergarten year.  I can hardly believe that a quarter of the school year is already past!  Because it was my first full day of school with students, I let Daddy take care of the first day of school drop-off.  That was after several pictures at home, of course.  I have to admit that I got a bit teary-eyed as I drove off that morning.  Soooo hard to believe my baby boy is old enough for kindergarten!
Our first day of school pictures.  Maddy decided to do her best model pose with us.  :)

I picked Jack up immediately after school on his first day and got to spend some time with him before we picked up Maddy from daycare.  We went to have some ice cream and talked about his big first day!  He, of course, had a great day and really enjoyed getting to eat lunch at school.

And since this post is well into the school year, I should probably mention how kindergarten has been so far!  Jack has had an interesting year and likes to keep his teacher on her toes (a kind way to say he's been a bit ornery).  He enjoys the routines of school and has made several friends, which is good!  He started the year as one of the oldest and biggest in his class.  For some reason, this translated into being a bit pushy with his classmates (literally!).  He has worked past that and has only had a couple instances since then.  One included being peed on (I kid you, not) by a classmate.  It was entirely Jack's fault!  So... we've gotten a couple phone calls from his teacher.  Not a good thing to do, kid!!!

But, all in all, his teacher likes him and she is great at challenging him.  That's why I have the picture of his first "book."  He didn't like to write much and now is willing to write his own book.  It's so much fun to see him learn and grow!  We just have to keep working on the "squirrely" part of him being a kindergarten boy.  Ha!
