Potty training is full under way here and I'm so impressed with how well Jack has done! It has been bittersweet. Definitely more sweet than not as I am enjoying not having to buy diapers!
I was feeling a bit stressed about the whole potty training issue when school let out. I REALLY wanted him to be potty trained by the end of summer. In my silly first-time mama mind, I had wanted the same thing last year. What was I thinking? Not so much, but this year it is a go!!
I wasn't sure if he was ready and that was the best advice that I got from many friends.... wait until he's ready and it won't be so bad. (On a side note... I think I still pushed a little much before he was ready, but you live and you learn!) Bryan came up with the idea for "Big Boy Day." He took him shopping for big boy underwear and potty training began. We had him in underwear whenever we were at home and a pull-up when we were out.
It has been three weeks now and he is doing marvelous! He very quickly started telling us he had to go potty and has even taken some {short} trips away from home wearing his underwear! And yesterday was icing on the cake for me.... Pooping on the potty has been a little more difficult for Jack. Yet, yesterday after lunch, he put himself on the potty, pooped, and then came into the kitchen to proudly tell me what he had done. And he did all this without me even knowing!
He is growing up! And that is the part that makes me a tiny bit sad. Although, I will continue to celebrate not having to buy him diapers.
