The creativity was flowing!

These are slightly outdated pictures, I know. I just seem to be in a blogging funk lately. And until now, I wasn't feeling any motivation to write anything.

However, these pictures are still important to me, because I am soooooo looking forward to another break from school! I've only worked two full weeks since Christmas break, but having time to do things like bake cookies and make baby blankets was awesome.

My creativity was really flowing with extra time on my hands. Jack and I made sugar cookies during our first snowstorm. Then I decided to get fancy and buy tips and GOOD food coloring and decorate them. It took me awhile, but was really fun. And of course, Jack and Bryan loved eating them!

What I am most proud of is a set of three baby blankets I made for my dear friend, Laura. I got the directions from a blog and altered them slightly to fit my time and talent constraints.

One was dinosaurs, one cars, and one bugs. I found matching fabric for the backside that was a solid (or close to it).

I sewed the two pieces together, leaving a hole about 3" wide. After the blanket was turned right side out, I stitched around the outside again to give it a finished look and close the hole.

Then came the tricky part. I wanted to have some stitching through the center of the blanket to keep the two pieces of fabric from bunching when it was washed. I wasn't feeling confident in my abilities to sew a straight line diagonally, so I chose to do one horizontal and one vertical. If you look close, you can see the two stitch lines. This was the last one I did and it turned out nearly perfect!

Now on to more projects.... getting caught up with my scrapbooking and redecorating Jack's room!

Nice blankets! I really like your
choice of contrasting fabric for the back of the blankets. Mom

I'm pretty sure that I've heard of this "sewing" thing, and "baking" thing. Love it!

Those blankets rock! If you ever got the urge, I totally think you could sell them on etsy... I found good baby blankets, ones I really like, hard to come by. Plus, what a great gift!

Thanks for all the wonderful comments! It was a lot of fun to make them. I guess my comment moderation was on I didn't know it. So until just now, I didn't know anyone had even replied!!! Oops. :)
