Mother's Day gift?

Bryan asked me last night what I'd like for Mother's Day. Oh yeah, I get to celebrate Mother's Day now! Of course, I gave the typical response. "I don't know. I don't really have anything I want." That's my usual response when someone asks me what I would like for a gift (birthday, Christmas, anniversary, etc.) I complain all the time about not having the right shoes or a shirt that matches my dress pants. Blah, blah, blah. But when it comes time for me to actually get something new, I draw a blank.

After I started thinking further, I decided that I would like to go shopping - Jack free. I haven't been shopping for myself since January. Yikes. And that shopping trip consisted 0f about 30 minutes while Jack was at my sister's place. But now I'm wondering... Is it bad to ask for a child-free day as your Mother's Day gift?

Christine, Remember your baby shower and you asked for 1 bit of advice from everyone. Mine was take time for yourself. No it's not bad to ask to be child free for a Mother's Day gift. It's a gift for you for all your hard work as a Mother. So spend Mother's Day with Jack and your family i.e your Mother ;) and spend another day totaly Jack free for shopping, pampering for yourself. I'm sure Aunt Sarah would love to spend a whole day with Jack. Love, Mom

Mom - You're right. I like how you said it... It's a gift for all your hard work as a mother. ;)

i think it sounds like a perfectly fine request. i'd ask bryan for some shopping money too.... it's only fair! :)

I love that idea, Blue. I think money along with a child-free shopping trip would be awesome!

You know you're going to have to reciprocate about 5 weeks after your spree! :)

Yeah, probably so. But it'll be worth it.
